Welcome to the BOBA Lab!
The Baby Objects with Baryons at Amherst (BOBA) Lab studies low-mass (“baby”) galaxies (“objects with baryons”). Also, many of us just like bubble tea.
“Where did we come from?”
Our lab aims to use observational astronomy to answer this fundamental human question. In particular, we use low-mass “dwarf” galaxies to tackle this question from two perspectives:
Galaxy formation and evolution: How did our own home, the Milky Way, come to be?
Nucleosynthesis: Where did the constituent particles that make up everything we see on Earth—the periodic table of elements—come from?
